TrustScore: the 0 to 100 trust rating for Singapore businesses

A TrustScore is a 0 to 100 score TrustEngine gives each Singapore business entity in its dataset. It is shown on business profiles on Scam.SG. A higher score means more trust signals are visible for that business.

This TrustScore is produced by TrustEngine and is not related to Trustpilot's TrustScore, which rates customer reviews on a 1 to 5 scale.

What a TrustScore means and does not mean

A TrustScore summarises the public and submitted signals TrustEngine holds for a business. TrustEngine certifies every score. No person sets or adjusts it, which keeps it impartial. It is not a regulatory determination, a legal judgment, or advice to deal or not deal with a business.

A low score is not a finding that a business is a scam. It means fewer trust signals are currently visible. Scam reports are shown separately on the Scam.SG profile.

How to read a TrustScore

  1. Step 1

Confirm the entity. Check the business name and UEN match the business you are dealing with.

  2. Step 2

Look past the number. Read the profile details and any scam reports, not only the level.

  3. Step 3

Allow for gaps. A new or very small business may have little public information.

  4. Step 4

Check separately before paying. For payments or high-value deals, run your own checks as well.

How to request a review of a TrustScore

TrustEngine calculates and certifies every TrustScore from the information available to it. No one can change a score by hand, including our own staff. A score changes only when the information behind it changes.

If a business believes its details are wrong or incomplete, it can request a review through Scam.SG. Any new or corrected information goes into TrustEngine, which then recalculates the score. We confirm the outcome by email.

The surest way to keep a score current is to keep the Scam.SG business profile complete and up to date.

FAQ

What is a good TrustScore?

Scores of 51 and above fall in the Established and Institutional levels, which reflect strong, consistent data signals. Compare businesses of a similar age and size. An early-stage business has less public data and usually scores lower.

How often does a TrustScore change?

A TrustScore reflects the information TrustEngine holds at the time of assessment. It is revised as that information changes, for example after a registry update or a new scam report.

Is this the same as a Trustpilot TrustScore?

No. Trustpilot's TrustScore is a 1 to 5 rating of customer reviews on Trustpilot. This TrustScore is a 0 to 100 score produced by TrustEngine from registry, regulatory, community and online signals for Singapore businesses.

Does a business pay to get a higher TrustScore?

No. A TrustScore cannot be bought. No one can change it by hand, including our own staff.
